Westerlo have announced the signing of promising young Australian international Jordan Bos from Melbourne City. The left-back is reported to have cost the side €1.30m, which would be a transfer record for the Australian A-League. Bos is likely to fill the gap left by on loan Club Brugge full-back Maxim De Cuyper, who is set to return to his parent club in the summer. The 22-year-old Belgian has been Westerlo’s stand out player this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists from left-back.
Bos has made 47 appearances for Melbourne City since graduating from their youth team, scoring three goals and providing six assists. The defender was also part of the team that won the title in 2021/2022. He has also been capped once by the Australian national team.
Westerlo have a number of areas to fill during the summer, with a fair few players on loan and likely to return to their parent club. Thankfully, with the money they received for striker Lyle Foster from Burnley, they should have enough to bring in more exciting players like Bos.
